The HomePort Collections donates over $13,000 in kind to AT HOME’s community project for Habitat for Humanity

ST. LOUIS, MO – December 17, 2008 – Sunny Lim, the creative director of The HomePort Collections in Washington, MO,  has generously donated over $13,000 in kind to AT HOME’S community project. In 2009, with the help of more than 30 local designers and the donations of local retailers, AT HOME will furnish and decorate four Habitat for Humanity houses.

The donation consisted of decorative accessories – lamps, vases, clocks, candlesticks, serving ware, shelves, blinds, and furniture – stools, bookcases, tables and two queen size beds.  In October 2007, The HomePort Collections closed their retail fronts (in Union and the Central West End) to focus on their wholesale operation, where they do their own designs, production and import. The HomePort Collections supplies to retailers across the country from mom and pop furnishing boutiques to national retailers including Anthroplogie, Viva Terra and Smith and Hawken. This donation consisted of many items that remained in their warehouse from when The HomePort Collections was a retail store front.  “I am an immigrant from Singapore and have been living in Washington, MO for 10 years now. I always call St. Louis my home city – I have met so many people that are kind to me,” says Sunny Lim of The HomePort Collections. “It is good that our donation will contribute to people in need in our own community.”

The four homes that are a part of AT HOME’s 2009 community project will be completed by mid-May. The homes will then be photographed and featured in the July/August 2009 issue of St. Louis Magazine’s AT HOME.
